Family Strength...

Well today was a really long day..I was woken up by Carmen and to not such good news. She told me that Yolanda's father had a heart attack last night. I thought I heard the phone ring late last night but it's not my house and I kind of thought is was the tv..my first thought though was, who would call at that time and hoping that it was not anything bad..

So I finished packing up a few things and getting everyone ready..We waited for Don to come home for lunch cause it's really hard to find the highway..So we were off to CT.. We went straight to the hospital to be there for the family..How very sad it was.. Yolanda's eyes were swollen like she was crying for weeks..We left the kids in the family lounge with my mother in law and went back to see him..He looked so bad..So swollen in his face and had so many tubes sticking out of him.

I didn't know him well..I seen him at a few family gatherings and a couple of New years that we went upstairs when they all lived in the same house before the fire..But I felt horrible for my husband..It is one of the few times that I have seen him cry. He told me that he was the closest thing to a grandfather he had.. He had his grandfathers both in Puerto Rico that he didn't get to see for a long time..Which one of them also passed away not so long ago.

There was doctors that had told them that he was brain dead and there was basically no hope..they were trying a few things but he was without oxygen to the brain for over 10 minutes and that is not good..they had a computer called "Marty" interpret everything that the doctor said..

They were trying to remain stong and hopeful..It was very unexpected for them because the father was not in bad health, he was supposed to be going to Puerto Rico tonight at 2 AM..So sad for them to have to see there father like this.
